Photographer's Note
I don't know about you, but I can't stand sitting opposite people on the Metro/Underground trains. You spend all your journey avoiding eye contact. Far easier to stand up near the back and observe everyone else. And how glum do they look.

Interesting, Mark, your best facial expression - that girl with the white t-shirt - is exactly in your point of focus. I can assume by f/1.4 that shallow DOF was intentional so all I can say is very well done! Depth of field is very well used in this photo to bring our attention to one of the people in the crowd.

Thanks to the shallow depth of field the girl in the middle really stands out, and I'm sure it was no accident on your part that you happened to focus on the glummest face of all!
Poor girl...
It looks like you shot from the hip here, and I'd have liked to have seen more of the people and less of the roof, but it's a moment well captured and I think the image works nontheless.
Cheers,
Ben

I love metro-pics. Here I like the expressions on the people's faces, tired or bored. Would love to travel around the world for such a series. Best wishes, Nino.

Hi Mark,
What do i see, a 35m/m 1.4...wow, that's a real beauty. The extreme narrow dof worked good here, but i would have choose the guy in front, but i don't think you took this picture the normal way?
Nevertheless, the row with people works good enough to make it interesting enough...

Ha ha ha, Mark, so you are getting a glimpse of Budapest underground ;-) Glum indeed is the expression that comes to mind! There's a twisted humour in here...
Are you still there or have returned? How has your trip been???

Hello Mark,
Ah, well, you were on holiday, I assume. It's just like on the tube only they have more room ;-) Very good management of depth of field with the focus on the girl with her rather winsome expression. All in all, a nice set of candid expressions. I particularly like the lady stood at the end, who, like the blessed Margaret has decided she's not for turning. Good work.

Hi Mark,
I totally agree with you, and also find it interesting how people behave and avoşd eye contact and look so glum. I use the tube/subway very often and have observed the same. The quality of your photo is exceptionally nice, and your 1,4 aperture seems to have done the job superb. Wonderful nice colors and expressions too.
Best regards. Salvator.

Wuaohh Just the same faces (i mean , the mood and expressiveness in them) i noticed when getting up and down public transportation in Budapest . Lovely social portrait that add more about the real Hungary than all those weary boring panoramicas taken from the citadel at the blue hour . Nice approach to other Hungarian stages remaining secluded in TE
