The Travelers
I decided that this travelogue should be primarily dedicated to the actual proces of traveling. On display here is the Athens Liosion KTEL bus station.
From the Moleskin travel diary:
“….We paid our bill at the hotel and chatted with the clerk waiting for the taxi. We told him that the hotel in some aspects made us think about the Economy hotel. He smiled and said that this was no coincidence. The hotels once belonged to the same family company and the Economy is still run by his uncle. Such coincidence!
The taxi zoomed speedily through the light Sunday morning traffic to the Liosion bus terminal. We bought the tickets to Agios Constantinos on the bus to Lamia, got two diplos and took a seat on the station cafι terrace. After a while I went exploring – I love Greek bus stations they’re often even more lively then train stations.
We got in the comfy Mercedes O404 bus. My new photo/laptop backpack didn’t fit in the overhead stowage nor the space under the chair so I had to keep it on my lap. Oh damn, this must be the punishment for buying a thing that’s called ‘Opulent Rooster’. Well, you can’t deny the Austrian manufacturer a sense of humour ;-). Approaching the artery out of Athens the traffic got very heavy but after the gates of the toll road we made good progress and a very enjoyable journey followed. One of the remarkable things were the bus stops – they are on the shoulder of the toll road near junctions so the bus doesn’t have to deviate offloading passengers. The pattern is that passengers phone ahead from the bus to friends or relatives and then are picked up by them by car from the junction bus stop. Very efficient. ….”
The Travellers is a song from Tom Russell’s “Modern art” album, released on Hightone in 2003
The PCS3 tech: I corrected the slight tilt and perspective distortion, cropped, altered the saturation, contrast, curves, levels and used the high pass filter in a gentle setting for the whole pic and some elements separately, using different layers, enhanced the edges, USM-ed added a frame and resized, and enhanced the edges and did a gentle USM (0,8px, 17 %) again on a 32 % transparent layer.

Hallo Bert,
John.

hey Bert,
I was attracted right away by the thumbnail. Think it was the sheer sharpness of it and the colors. I think you've achieved your goal to convey the impressions of traveling here. I love the different frames in the pictures: the windows, the pillar, the door, the signs. Love it. Good job!

Hi Bert,
I like very much the layers in the shot, the opening at right, the second scene... there are many moments captured, everyone (except the woman and the man at work in foreground) is alone... and loneliness is, I think, what the picture show! Very well seen! Thanks!
Greetings,
Angel.

Hi Bert,
Groeten,
Lars

Hi Bert,
Very impressive interior shot. The clarity is excellent and it has a very good DOF. Even the man far away under the window is very sharp. Also a very vivid daily life scene with different activities going on. TFS and have a nice week!
Cheers,
Ulf

I don't know why but this post reminds me the first compos I discovered in your gallery a few years ago : they were urban, daily life oriented, very well composed and managed... With a strong mood too... That's what I see here again.

Hi Bert,
Too much details to be abstract, but at the same time it does have that division in squares. Nice compo. Perhaps a pity of the lady to the total left being cut off. But still enough visible of her! Nice.

Hallo Bert,
Prachtige scherp gesneden foto. Mooi met al die verschillende rechthoeken. Als een echte nazaat van Mondriaan.
