Photographer's Note
I am sorry, my British friends, but as you see I cannot go over it. In my previous photo from Acropolis Hill I mentioned the story of the most precious, most decorative elements of this sacred place, including the Parthenon Marbles, which were stolen by a British Lord to decorate his mansion.
https://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Europe/Greece/photo1589836.htm
He used the opportunity because Greece was occupied by Turkey, and UK had good relationship with Turks, so nobody could stop him. The sculptures were bought from the thief by British Museum, and the museum now claims they have the right to keep it. This is so wrong!
When I watched a movie about the Parthenon history. I had tears in my eyes. First of all, it is a truly unique, magnificent structure. 8 columns at the front, 17 columns on a side. Richly decorated. There was a giant Athena statue in the centre. First who have damaged it were actually Christians. Because Greeks converted to Christianity, they wanted to destroy images of other Gods from their living space. I am so ashamed to be a Christian hearing it. An Orthodox church was built inside the Parthenon, then French converted it to Roman Catholic Church, and Turks to a mosque with a minaret in the middle. It was religion which inspired people to create this beauty, and it was religion which ridiculed it and caused it to collapse. If your religion does not inspire you to be creative but encourages you to destroy or kill, then you probably don’t understand well the message it has intended for you.
Having said all that, when Greeks got this part of their country back, a common decency would require to return the Parthenon Marbles where they belong.
Different subject now: a friend of mine told me that when she visited Acropolis, the Parthenon (in this photo) was covered with scaffolding. It is always covered with scaffolding, be prepared for that. People usually approach Parthenon from the opposite side, which is lit in the afternoon light, and indeed the other side is almost entirely covered with scaffolding. This side, which is better lit in the morning has fewer construction elements around but, of course, you can never avoid them completely.

Hello Mariusz,
It is a fantastic and impressive photo of this famous temple. The pillars look so beautiful from here and also in this soft and clear sunlight. The warm glow stands out well from the blue sky. Very well done.

Hi Mariusz,it was a terrible theft for Greece and its symbol, but we Italians are made even worse, they have stolen everything from us, starting with Leonardo's Monnalisa ... ehehe .. the notes are really interesting, I didn't know this story. And the photo is crazy, perfect symmetry, perspective and quality. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hi Mariusz
Now as you (still?) live in Britain you'll have to take of the blame as well. keep pushing them to return everything!
It looks like there is always scaffolding somewhere on the Acropolis - there was plenty there when I saw it in 1998 as well. A good upwards perspective.
cheers

Still with scaffolding, a never ending task of preserving this magnificent monument, Mariusz.
View upwards made an imposing sight of the ancient columns.
Wish you a nice sunday,

Hello Mariusz,
So many ancient sites were excavated in Victorian times, it was almost like mining for relics. The excavators had spent lots of money exploring and, I suppose, this was their payback.
I agree, replicas of the Elgin Marbles could be produced and the original returned to Athens, where they would be placed in the museum, certainly not placed in their original situ.
This is a fine viewpoint to emphasise the height and majesty of the building. (I think it would be impossible to have a photograph without scaffolding being included but it does show that care is being taken over the restoration.)
You have given close details so that there is hardly any empty space.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Mariusz, the viewpoint shows how massive and imposant this temple is. That archeological treasure is going to be renovated, i see scaffoldings. The columns are really impressive. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Hello Mariusz, you did really well to achieve the composition that you did, perfect symmetry as far as I can see.
It's understandable that there would be some scaffolding on the site; I guess the preservation goes on and on.
Thought provoking note. If the Elgin Marbles were returned then many, many more works would or should be returned/exchanged from countries all over the world. Where would it end?
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Mariusz,
Fantastic view from Acropolis. This close angle shows these columns as massive as they are. It is sad to read how these historical landmarks have been robbed.

despite the use by christians and muslims, they preserved the original temple in most of its shapes. what destroyed it was when the turks put gunpowder inside it and the venetian hit it with a cannon. It is sad not so many time ago it was almost completed. a nice frontal view. the process of restoration looks will last a thousand years more..
take care

Swietny kadr ze starozytna architektura... rusztowania sa wszechobecne przy zabytkach, ktore chcesz sfotografowac to prawo Murphy’ego.
Kradzieze, rabunki sa pamiatka wojen, kolonizacji etc, ale przedmioty te winny wracac do wlasciciela - no coz nie zawsze tak sie dzieje.
Ciekawa prezentacja

First of all, the photo was taken with a strong perspective and remarkable clarity of details.
In this case, your intention is very good, my friend!
Distinguished scientists, artists, politicians, passed away without realizing this view.
Congratulations for the courage of your thinking!

Hello Mariusz,
I think you're lucky that Poland has never been a colonising country. All those nations have been stealing treasures from what were mostly third world countries.
I wasn't really aware that sculptures of the Parthenon and other works of art of such significance from ancient Greece are located in other European countries.
But actually, when I think about it, I'm inclined to believe that just about every European country has a museum of antiquity that contains art treasures from Egypt, the Near East and certainly from Italy and Greece.
I'm sure that many works of art from these countries are located in Brussels. I've seen them. I may be wrong about 'all' European countries ... but what with Poland?
Just a question. I don't know and I certainly do not agree with this way of robbing.
It's also true that until not so long ago it was thought that the present-day peoples of Egypt and the Near East, for example, had nothing to do with the ancient civilizations. It was believed that these past civilizations were not theirs and that the west had more right to the artifacts than the present-day inhabitants of these lands.
This is also not my belief. But I do remember how people (even in history education) thought about it when I was very young and now.
In the meantime, much has changed in the way of thinking in many countries. Actually, I kind of compare this to the changed thinking patterns that led to the 'Black Lives Matter' movement.
I saw one of the largest collections of art treasures from around the world in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. By far most of what is shown comes from a territory that does not belong to the United States. Purchased of course. But how correct is this?
Best regards, Paul

Hello Mariusz,
The Parthenon was covered with scaffolding in 2013 as well when I visited. And still covered in 2016 on my 2nd trip. A good wide angled shot with the verticals placed centrally and excellent sharpness and framing. Tfs!

Hello Mariusz.
Fantastic composition with this side of the Parthenon, a beauty that you never tire of looking at when you are in front of it, I really like this photo so clean, with the perspective from below.
A great photo, with very good color, very well managed both lighting and sharpness.
Well done. I like.
Have a great day.
All the best for you.
Luis.

Hello Mariusz
I like your note, We are supposed to be just passing through and not to get to involved with the props of this world. Anyway living near Nashville, Tennessee I did see the replica of the Parthenon. Never could compare to the marble of Greece. A fine image for all of us to see. Beautiful.
