Photographer's Note
Makryammos, Thasos, Northern Greece
Thasos is the northernmost Greek island, and 12th largest by area. Thasos is also the name of the largest town of the island (also known as Limenas Thasou, "Harbour of Thasos"), and Makryammos (which I think translates as Golden Beach), is just a few kilometres East of the town.
I was struck by the apparently serious and intense conversation between these two, as they sat on the rocky quayside. I wonder what they were discussing...

I like this conversation. The mother and the child always make a beautiful combination, of love and attention, care and inclusion.
At this point in the kid's life, only poems can be discussed.

Hello Will,
This is a delightful photograph with intense communication between mother and child, clearly discussing some matter of great import. The simplicity of the composition and the lack of any distracting features other than the horizon and the rocks upon which the two "players" are sitting adds to the sublime impact of the image.
The colours, light, exposure, details and sharpness are all exquisite and I find it amazing that this picture must have been scanned from a 26 year old colour photograph or slide taken on silver bromide emulsion - the quality is simply stunning!

This is an excellent photo for every reason I can think of. It's perfectly composed, it's bright and clear with superb colours and sharpness, there is a splendid connection between the two that stimulates my imagination. When I realise this is such an old photo I am totally amazed at the high quality of the original and the superb scanning. While I still thought it was brand new I imagined that any serious conversations in Greece would concern politics and economy. Now I don't know. What did you talk to a child about 26 years ago?

Hi Will,
Great scene, it does look a serious conversation. Then again, with kids it could be the meaning of the universe, or it could be a fish fingers or chicken burger for tea kind of one, who knows. Perfect taken either way, you created a very special capture as these two pele solve the woes of the world, and in such a beautiful setting.

It is very easy to imagine a strong line between the eyes of these persons. There is such an obviousxand clear connection. A very fine picture, also in respect of colour coordination. Excellent and beautiful!

Twenty six years ago! this is unbelievably high quality scanned image Will, as if it was shot yesterday. Thumb up for save archiving and share with us. The cutie is probably a young mom now and that happy grand ma perhaps!! Well timely shot, a charming tender intimate moment between mother and child and a moment to treasure. It's finely composed and juxtapositioned with good use of plain background as effective reference and color contrast. Very fine shot of a good honest photograph that has all the qualities of a pro photographer who knows his stuff, Congrats.

It looks like Greek philosophy is alive and well. Socrates would be impressed! Good sharpness and the warm cold color contrast between theblue water, cyan attire, and the reddish brown skin tones of the couple is superb. Well framed and composed with plenty of breathing space right around. Tfs!

superb capture! We can only guess what this serious adult conversation is all about:)
The little girl's facial expression is the most striking thing for me here. Can't but note the perfect match of the lady's dress and the sea color. Great sense of space.
Funny thing too... the lady looks to me like Andy Murray before he cut his hair:))
