Yassas !, a photo from Rethimno, Crete

Photographer's Note

I came across this good fellow as I was making a photograph of the village of Sillia. He was riding back from his mountains where he had gathered some honey in his pot. After greeting me joyfully with a Yassas !, he got off his horse and invited me to taste the honey. Human relationships is what Im most interested in when I travel abroad and what I value most in life.

Je suis tombι par hasard sur ce brave homme alors que je prenais en photo le village de Sillia. Il revenait de ses montagnes oω il avait collectι du miel dans son pot. Aprθs mavoir chaleureusement saluι dun « Yassas ! », il descendit de son cheval et minvita ΰ goϋter son miel. Ce sont les relations humaines qui mintιressent avant tout lors dun voyage ΰ lιtranger, et cest aussi ce que japprιcie le plus dans la vie.

Met of zonder geld in Griekenland deze man is de moed nog niet verloren.
Blijkbaar heeft u connectie met dit deel van Griekenland de honig van daar moet wel zoet zijn door de vele zon en de verschillende bloemen.
Uw bijgevoegde foto is mooi als panorama beeld.

Very nice shot, I love the daily life shot, very different than I expect to see from Greece that people still riding in horse and donkey. He is a very friendly man, make it feel really welcome, I like that about the country I travelled to. This horse almost seem too small for him :)

Good quality shot, strong light, but you did very well.

C'est vrai que, au-delΰ des paysages et des sites visitιs, ce sont bien souvent ces rencontres, au hasard des chemins et des routes que l'on emprunte, qui marquent le plus lorsque l'on part en voyage ! Ici, tu nous fais partager une scθne de la vie quotidienne, ces peuples de la Mιditerranιe (pour bien connaξtre la Corse) sont d'une humanitι et d'une hospitalitι touchantes...

Un homme qui a l'air bien sympathique, et dont le miel devait κtre fameux! Tu l'as bien saisi, pas faηon John Wayne sur son destrier, mais presque.. La lumiθre et la qualitι gιnιrale sont bonnes.
Ca me rappelle les ballades ΰ cheval (ou plutτt en mules!) que je faisais dans les montagnes Grecques dans les annιes soixante....

Bonjour Christian,

Op het eerste gezicht een eenvoudige foto, maar meestal
zijn de eenvoudige het lastigste te maken.
Het geheel komt aangenaam gemoedelijk en rustig over,
maar als je rustig kijkt zie je meer.
Namelijk dat de foto ook een mooie diepte heeft, wat
je heel mooi en bescheiden aan de linker kant van de
foto heb geplaatst (of te wel: je hebt een mooie
standpunt uitgekozen en de foto voorzien van een mooie
compositie). Verder heeft de foto een mooie aflopende
scherpte en is de foto heel goed belicht.

Samengevat: niet alleen een foto die mooi is, ook
eentje die verzorgd is vastgelegd.

Une rencontre bien sympathique de cet homme ΰ dos de mulet...tu as cliquι au bon moment, lorsquil te saluait de la main et le format vertical sied bien ΰ cette compo.
Pour moi aussi, les relations humaines sont importantes et j'imagine que tu as apprιciι le miel (qui devait κtre trθs bon), si gentiment offert ;D
