Photographer's Note

One more photo, taken at the same evening as two of my previous posts ( Nafplio sunset and Nafplio nights ) from Palamidi castle, after a "climb" of 999 stairs. The title comes from one of the most famous novels by Francis Scott Fitzgerald, published in 1934.

"Nafplio , is not just a perfect destination for romantic "escapes" from Athens, but also a town with great history and great architectonic importance. In the old part of the town you can see some great examples of Venetian architecture, some islamic monuments from the Ottoman Era and some beautiful Neoclassical buildings. You can also see 3 beautiful castles , Bourtzi, on the little island that you can see in the middle of the Gulf, Akronafplia on the small peninsula that you can see on the left of the photo and the magnificent Palamidi , from where I took the photo. (...)

Nafplio, was the first capital of Greece (before Athens), after the liberation of the country from the Ottoman empire. It is the town, where the first Governor of Greece, Ioannis Kapodistrias, was murdered.

Very close to Nafplio you can find many, very important archaelogical sites, like Mycenae and Tiryns (World Heritage Sites by UNESCO), the Acropolis and the ancient theatre of Argos (often refered as the most ancient city of the world still existing) and the world famous Ancient Theatre of Epidavros."

Hello Hercules,
The blue tones and the colours are really wonderful on this picture. The POV on the Palamidhi Fortress offers us a magnificent view on the beautiful old town, the rocky peninsula, the sea, the Bourtzi castle and the mountains on the other side (with snowcapped mountains behind the clouds).
A week ago I was in Nafplion and enjoyed my stay very much but I wondered what that enormous ugly building (middle left on the pic) on the way to Akronafplia was ...
Perhaps other people like it but I found it an enormous ugly spot on this wonderful site.

the city and sky are incredible on this picture, you timed the exposition perfectly to get the most out of both! The fluidity of the roads, the nightligths reflecting on the houses, and the sky still lighted for the perfect moment. Perfect title as well.

I like the blue hour cool color tone of this perspective view of the peninsular into the water. Very dramatic effect of this strong saturation of color. A fine capture of Nafplio.

Excellent point de vue sur la ville et bonne perspective. L'exposition de 15 secondes ΰ f/11 donne de trθs bons rιsultats. Les couleurs de fin de journιe sont superbes et beau contraste entre la ville et le bleu du ciel et de la mer.
