Photographer's Note
This is the bell tower in the church yard. The wood used is chest nut and it is a part together with the ladder and the beams that may be replaced at some time as the rest is solid stone. The wooden parts are the original ones.

The history of Mount Pelio churches is a long story worth for historians to explore. Most of them were built circa 1750 and they all have the same style of Basilica which is long, usually without a central dome, or if there was one, it was hidden under a two slope tiled roof. On the left and the right there were roofed porches and their very end two small chapels dedicated to different saints from the main church. They were stone built covered with a stone tile roof. They all had a carved wooden temple and were decorated by local artists, and in the richer parishes there were famous artists, many of them from Constantinople the center of the Orthodox Church since the Byzantine times or Mount Athos. The decoration is mainly frescoes and on the outside carved stones or marbles, depicting various themes from religious, to scientific (Zagora) or everyday scenes such as hunting and agriculture (Makrinitsa).
The church shown here is Saint George in Makrinitsa and you can see the south side of the church. What I really liked was the side winter light that created all those nice shadows. In the WS I have included two more photos to get a better idea of its beauty.

I would like to give you 6 points because I like very much these 3 photos of Makrinitsa.
I like the pavement of the villages of Pelion with these big stones which shine with the sun and which form a so beautiful "patchwork", I like the always magnificent light when we look in the direction of the gulf, I like immense cypress and I like the hall of this Ag Giorgos's church where there are always magic play of shade and light.
The first photo is very beautiful with these golden colors and allows to see the very beautiful architecture of the bell tower and also those of the walls and stony roofs.
