Photographer's Note

This is the view from the Hilton Roof Garden in the center of Athens.

I always wondered how people kept getting crystal clear photos at night - when all I got using a tripod and perfect focus was a sub-par photo - until I found out about the unsharp mask function in Gimp (also in Photoshop). The unsharp mask function simply increases contrasts at edges within the photo - this happens automatically within the brain, providing for a perceivably "clearer" image. Since the camera does not have this post-processing, the original image appears unfocused and unrealistic. Adding this simple post-processing provides the clarity and realistic effect experienced in real life.
