Photographer's Note
Trek Earth Meeting Rothenburg – 26./27. of July 2008
Didier, Leo, Marianne, Mark, Kris, Linda and I had a lot of fun in Rothenburg, a little town with about 11200 habitants in the southern part of Germany, which is really famous for the architecture that does remind of the medieval times. We met at noon at the town hall square, went to a restaurant and spent the afternoon getting to know the town a little bit and taking some pictures. At that time the light wasn΄t so good, so we decided to come back at 9pm and thanks to Didier we couldn΄t miss the blue hour. Actually this was the first blue hour I really took pictures of, and I was really amazed of the light and the colors on my photos. So I decided to post a picture of the town hall square during the blue hour.
I΄m glad for any advice, hint or proposition, that could help me to improve my photography.

Hi Jonas,
Your first blue hour shot??? Waoww! It is very very well done. Because I was there, I know it was not easy at all to have the whole square on the same photo. You did it and could avoid distorsions. That is very impressive.
Congratulations, it was good to meet you.
Cheers,
Marianne

Hi Jonas,
Another blue hour thing...seems you all had great fun during the weekend. Bit dark in front, but it brings a complete different mood inside which i very much like to see in these kind of shots. Saw some ws pictures...you look proud with that Nikon thing around your neck ;-)
Take care, Henk

Hallo Jonas,
I'm glad this meeting in Rothenburg gave you the opportunity to discover the magic blue hour, so now I look forward to seeing many such pictures from you, in Germany there are plenty of attractive small towns with ancient and well lit buildings to try this. The sky and the warm/cold contrast are beautiful on your image, whether to fix or not the verticals is a matter of taste, I went for fixing, you not, both have pros and cons and I still couldn't decide which I prefer.
Have a nice day JY

Hello Jonas,
Very nice! You had good fun there I can see in your posting and the ones of others from the group. A pity I could not make it. All a bit too much planned in the last weeks.
A very nice blue hour shot! Especially when taking into account it is one of your first!!
And I am proud as well with a Nikon around my neck hahaha. There you go Henk ;-). It was a Nikon vs. Nikon shoot-out with Marianne :-)).
Greetings!
Dennis

Hi Jonas,
For a first photograph at the blue hour, I find that it is a success in spite of the light problems of prospect. I like much the management of the light, it is very pleasant to look at. Beautiful use of Nikon, cheer Jonas.
With all my friendships and I say to you with soon, I take my holidays end of the week but I would come from time to time on TE to see you.

Bonjour Jonas,
Regards.

Olα Jonas, nice to see you enjoying your Nikon in WS. If I'll ever buy a SLR, I wonder what advices I'll have from all of you... ;-) This is a gorgeous blue hour. Love the effect of the clouds on the sky at right. Yes, may be it's a bit dark, but I actually like the resulting mood. May be I would try to correct a bit the perspective on the left. Just a bit. No need to straighten up everything.
Have a nice day,

Hello my friend Jonas,
You quest us opinion, you know best friend that I gladly give my honest opinion.
I beginning with to say that this picture very good as composition, also the enlightenment of the buildings is very well.
You took this picture during the blue hour and this is always very well.
What would I change, I would the verticale perspective adapt, also the corner above to the left little bit more clarity give.
I try to make a small WS, I hope that you can appreciate. TFS.
Best regards,
John.

Jonas,
As I told Mark, how wonderful it must be to spend time with all this great photographers and nice people. I envy you all.
And for this photo, a great one this is. The blue and gold is such a nice complement colors. So rich and intense. Perfect sharpness and detail for a night shot. What I'm also impress with is there seem to be no noise. How you manage to be so neat. Great job.

Hello Jonas
I remember his first works, they were good but ... I believe that in one year that missing person took, you have the highest ready even.
this composition is perfectly controlled technically, good luminosity, definition and cleanliness.
big work
greetings.

Excellent blue hour shot. Amazing this is your first as the quality is very good with very good exposure. (How could you fail with the excellent camera you use! ;D)You found a different POV from the others I have seen so far. The reflected light on the ground is a small but important detail. Good work

Hello Jonas
Excellent blue hour with golden tones in the buildings with a few ghosted people chucked in for good measure. Could be just slightly brighter overall but none the less its avery good shot.

Hi Jonas
Ok for the exposure lights management but you have a very good camera and I suggest you to set the white balance to give less reds.
Well done for the sky colour.
Cheers.

Hello Jonas
I'm sorry I'm late on this one. A wonderful blue hour shot with the lit up town hall square contrasting beautifully with the blue sky. The narrow aperture resulted in nice star effects on the lights. But I wonder what was the exposure time...must have been quite slow given the clouds which seem to be in motion...in fact that also adds to the picture. Beautiful picture Jonas, very well done!
Best Regards

This is one of the most beautiful squares in Germany and you've photographed it precisely at the right moment. I've been there twice and would go again, I really like this town.
Cheers
