Photographer's Note
This is the former moated castle Lede near the village Vilich, today a quarter of Bonn.
At first it was a Romanic fortified residential tower, erected in the 12th century. In 1360 a knight named Johann Schillinck obtained the ownership and enlarged it to a Gothic castle. He was a magistrate of the archbishop and elector of Cologne and he renounced payment in kind - wine from Ahr river - in favour of an annuity which made possible both the acquisition and the maintenance of the castle. In the course of the centuries the castle was destroyed and rebuilt and it changed hands several times.
After World War II castle Lede was headquarters of the British commander and later on foreign minister, Lord Carrington. Today the castle is privately owned and one can hire its rooms for festivities.
In the workshop you can see the coachman's and gate house.
Using the map view function at the left you can zoom in (please click at "satellite" and +) exactly to the castle. This aerial view is rather sharp.

Hi Frank
I like the way the branches reach out towards the building. Nicely exposed with good detail.

Hallo Frank. Castle Lede.

Thanks for sharing.

Hello Frank,
The details in the stonework are captured perfectly under a very nice light in this fine composition. Some very nice light and shadow play along the façade whilst the trees make good framing. Excellent tones and clarity.

Hallo Frank,
Lieben Gruss, Ulf (unter himmlischem Grau)

Hello Frank,
This building does not remind of castle. At all events, this is not the fortified building in the traditional meaning. However she makes an impression with her own compact block. I see that at of castle last works - surely connected with his restoration. The interested, December light introduces the here very good mood. Excellent quality of picture and colouring fit in with the climate of December, sunny weather.
Greetings from equally sunny Mosina.

Castle converted into a house. Well it's good, it could be worse if it would other way back! Interesting photo and great note as always.
Today we had + 3 and rain. What a January, what a Russian Winter, really!

Hello Frank,

Hello Frank,
An ancient castle with some modern decorations!
Good point of view and the varied light add a sense of depth to composition...
The silhouetted naked branches add som e mystery to the place!
Greetings,

Hi Frank
Very good shot and highly interesting note on this huge mansion. I'd spend one night in there as long as it is not haunted.

Bonsoir Frank

Harriet
