Photographer's Note
As I promised yesterday here I show you a picture of Beethoven's birthplace in Bonn, where he was born in 1770. He died 1827 in Vienna.
He is generally regarded as one of the greatest composers in the history of music. He moved to Vienna, Austria, in his early twenties, and settled there, studying with Joseph Haydn and quickly gaining a reputation as a virtuoso pianist. In his late twenties he began to lose his hearing, and yet continued to produce notable masterpieces throughout his life in the face of this personal disaster. Beethoven was one of the first composers who worked as a freelance — arranging subscription concerts, selling his compositions to publishers, and gaining financial support from a number of wealthy patrons — rather than being permanently employed by the Church or by an aristocratic court.
The city of Bonn dedicated two absolute different monuments to it's famous son, a traditional one and a fancy one.
During the whole year it's interesting to see crowds of Japanese tourists taking pictures of the traditional one and visiting the row house you see above - in November unfortunately without Geraniums ... ;-)
The "Beethoven-Haus" today is a most interesting museum with a lot of exhibits out of Beethoven's possession.

Hallo Frank,
hier steht Deine Note klar im Vordergrund, aber das ist eindeutig der Person (Persφnlichkeit) geschuldet, der Du Dein heutiges Bild gewidmest hast. Das Foto ist die passende Ergδnzung. Obwohl ich seine Musik mag, mir ist Bach lieber.

Irgendwie schon seltsam das da irgendwann mal klein Beethoven rausstolziert ist und die er heute noch einer der bekanntesten Deutschen ist... Kann mir nicht vorstellen, dass heute noch jemand geboren wird, όber den dann so lange noch geredet wird: Daniel Kόbelbφck, Dieter Bohlen?

ein hόbsches Haus, obwohl es mit der Seele und mit dem Talent von Beethoven kaum etwas zu tun hat. Nein, ich denke jetzt nicht an die biographischen Einzelheiten, nδmlich an die Tatsache, dass Beethoven erst in Wien einer der grφίten Komponisten aller Zeiten wurde. (Kennst Du den Spruch: "Die Φsterreicher sind lustige Leute, da sie fest davon όberzeugt sind, dass Beethoven ein Φsterreicher und Hitler ein Deutscher war.") Ich denke nur an das Paradox, dass einerseits auch die Giganten der Kultur (mehr oder weniger - OK, eher weniger) normales Leben unter normalen Verhδltnissen leb(t)en, andererseits ist aber ihr Genius unfassbar und hat kaum Zusammenhang mit den Lebensverhδltnissen, Gegenstδnden, Hδusern etc. Ich halte allerdings Beethoven fόr einen meiner besten Freunde (neben Haydn und Mozart), und ich freue mich das Geburtshaus meines Freundes endlich einmal sehen zu kφnnen.
