Photographer's Note
The last days I showed you some pictures taken in the small low mountain range "Siebengebirge" on the right bank of Rhine river. Here you can see it - nearly in it's full extent. It's the view from castle "Godesburg" in Bonn-Bad Godesberg in an eastward direction. The picture was taken a few minutes before sunset.
Rhine river - you can't see it - flows directly in front of the mountains. At the top of the right mountain called Drachenfels you can see the ruin of castle Drachenfels. This mountain - it is said - is the most visited one of Germany. The view from there, 260 m above the large river, really is overwhelming.
A little bit left hand underneath its top you can see castle "Drachenburg".
At the top of the left mountain, Petersberg, you can see a big long white building. This is the first class "Hotel Petersberg", the guest house of the Federal Republik of Germany. Here nearly all Heads of State and Heads of Government of the countries with diplomatic relations to Germany have been accomodated.
In 2001 the Afghanistan-Conference took place here because the area of the mountain top can be bared hermetically.
Siebengebirge, of volcanic origin, is the oldest German nature protection area and hiking there is a dream because of it's many many objects of interest.

Hi Frank. Bad Godesberg is a special place for me. I was there in China restaurant for the first time in my life in 1988. Well, it is sentimental photo for me. Thanks for sharing. Regards my friend.

Guten Tag Frank,
Enormously I am glad that you begin otherwise to look at sunsettings. Now I am seeing, that you can superbly use this uncommon occurrence. I worship to photograph when the sun heads for to the horizon. This colour of lights and these reflexes I will obtain in no other conditions. That so indeed it is will suffice to look at Your today′s picture. Is superb! Just these wonderful lights called out the superb fine arts of the picture. The colour of happening sun underlined still more strongly colours of the autumn. The beautiful picture.
Best regards from warm Poznań (8 centigrades),

As usually, Frank, very interesting note with a good picture to illustrate it. I like all smaller towns, even just looking at a picture I feel at home there. This one looks nice and quiet, no noise of big "civilization".
I would have pointed camera a little lower to cut part of the blue sky out and to add some foreground. Unless foreground was boring and ugly.
All the best from across the ocean

you just got the last rays there..and a warmer tone because of it..the sky is a good backdrop as it is still well lit...
good modelling comes from side lighting and you got the town to stand up out of the shadows..looks reasonable dry as well..:)
a wet hi from the home of english football..
tomorrow should be dry and sunny i hope for our christmas ramble in the hills..
if its good i can post some recent shots..all the stuff now is from the past.
cheers
geof
