Photographer's Note

This bridge is called the Passerelle des Deux Rives or Brcke der zwei Ufer (Bridge of Two Banks) and spans the Rhine between Strasbourg, France and Kehl, Germany. The bridge, open to pedestrians and cyclists, was opened in 2004 and was designed by Marc Mimram. A symbol of peace and transnational cooperation, the bridge was the scene of the 2008 NATO summit, attended by, among others, Angela Merkel and Barack Obama, to celebrate the organisations 60th anniversary. This photo was taken from the German side of the river.
