Photographer's Note
Potsdamer Platz Reflections
Reflections in the big city is one of my favorite themes.
Usually it is the shiny faηades of modern skyscrapers that serve as mirrors.
Sometimes it is the windless or undulating surfaces of ponds and canals.
A few times a fresh rain puddle gives chance to show buildings of a unique side.
Often with dreamy surrealist abstractions.
Today, I join Lars' post "Refections after Rain" (https://i1.trekearth.com/photos/12257/1237._reflections_after_rain.jpg)
Three impressions of captured by me in the same rain puddle. (52.509480, 13.376053 – intersection Potsdamer Strasse – Ebert Strasse – Stresemann Strasse
In the 1st photo we see two of the 5 buildings belonging to the Beisheim Center on the north side of the Potsdamer Platz.
The building on the left (on the reverse reflection on right side) is the Ritz-Carlton hotel. Designed by Hilmer & Sattler und Albrecht..
The building on the right (on the opposite reflection so left side) is the multi-functional Delbrόck House. Designed by Kollhoff und Timmermann Architekten in collaboration with Hilmer & Sattler und Albrecht GmbH.
Photo 2 shows a surreal expression of the Kollhoff Tower (see also: https://i1.trekearth.com/photos/15099/te414.jpg)
The Kohlhoff Tower was designed by Kohlhof and Timmermann architects.
Photo 3: Same photo, different photographer, different camera.
It should come as no surprise to you that Lars and I often take more or less the same pictures. The3rd photo shows an example of this.
The Bahn Tower designed by architect: Helmut Jahn (see ook: https://i1.trekearth.com/photos/15099/te413.jpg)

Hello Rob,
You refer to surrealism in the note, and that was certainly my immediate impression when seeing the thumbnail. I just can't figure out who made this painting of a town collapsing into the sea. It's a wonderful observation and very nicely handled. Attractive photos in the WS too, but this is by far the one that appeals most to my imagination.
Best regards,
Gert

Hallo Rob,

Hello Rob, three excellent studies from a puddle!
Looking at the main post in the large version, I notice that there is hardly any distortion at all, a near perfect reflection.
So, sometimes it pays to look down as well as up.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean

Hi Rob,
The point of view is showing the details of the reflections of the buildings. The workshop phoros are a good complement to the main one. Well done, have a nice day.

Hello Rob,
The three photos were superbly taken.
They all looks as the buildings were "emerging" from the puddle.
Nicely done pictures.
Wish you a nice weekend,
Ike

Hello Rob,
Three very good reflections, especially as recorded from puddles!
I think you chose wisely for your main photograph, as it appears quite mysterious, with suggestions of a misty f/g. There is just enough included road surface to explain the reality!
When you and Lars are out together, you are sure to photograph similar subjects, though individuality is still there!
Have a good w/e,
Bev 😊
The rain is pouring down here, with the odd flash of lighting!

Goedenavond Rob,
Heel mooi foto werk, doe zo verder. Bedankt.
Prettige weekend ondanks corona omstandigheden,
John.

Hello Rob, This picture is the right choice - it is the best one. Amazing view of these buildings. Here they look like after catastrophe, seem ruined and abandoned. Excellent observation. The pictures in two Workshops are similar to what we have seen already. Nothing strange that father and son take similar photos in the same places.

Hi Rob
It seems that you spent a bit of time around Potsdam Plaza. This is a great reflections photo because it almost looks like the building have been caught in a massive flood. Well done.
cheers

Bonjour, cher ami Rob,
Amitiιs.

Hello Rob,
Fantastic abstract reflections with good sharpness and symmetry. There is also a nice warm cold colour contrast between the reflected tan buildings and the blue sky. Tfs!

Wow, Rob!
First class shot! As far as I can see, you had to turn you original by 180 degrees to get this. But it's the idea that is invaluable...

Hallo Rob, the reflection in this puddle creates an amazing illusion. It is as if the two builsings were floating on the sea. Excellent idea to take this photo. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Hallo Rob,
Vele groeten, Paul

Hi Rob,
I like the way the two buildings seem to rise out of a cloud, or perhaps they are emerging out of the sea. It's good that you have taken advantage of an ephemeral puddle to create an excellent photo.

Hello Rob,
I definitely love reflections, and I always look in puddles after it rains to see what I might find. here the pavement was still wet, but the sky was getting brighter, and the result was a beautiful reflection. There is a slight distortion, and it adds to the artistic quality of the scene. Take care!

Who said the sinking of the Atlantis is only a legend!
Since your picture is the only one of a king in the world, you could make a fortune convincing the sceptics!
This artistic view testifies of an acute sense of observation and exercised photographic experience.
Vriendelijke groeten
