Photographer's Note

Travelling is restricted, many people limit themselves to holidays in their own country or one-day excursions.

There has been an official concept of a "German tip pass" since the year 2000. The northern-, southern-, western- and easternmost municipalities of Germany have issued a pass in which to collect the respective local stamp, and if you managed to visit all four places within four years (extended to five due to corona) and stay there for at least one night, you get a parcel with the respective local products.
The disadvantage is that you have to travel more than 2700 kms to manage that.
I decided to limit the procedure to the four corners not of Germany but of my home land, Rhineland-Palatinate.

This is the westernmost point of Rhineland-Palatinate, situated on the same longitude like Zwolle (NL), Aachen (D), Nancy (F) and Geneva (CH). The place is situated near the village of Dasburg in the lonesome valley of Our river, which forms the border between Germany and Luxembourg. Its coordinates are 50° 3' 36.2" N, 6° 6' 44.2" E. There are 186 km to the easternmost point near Ludwigshafen as the crow flies.

There is no marking at all, my cellphone did not work inside this narrow valley, so I had to rely on printed Google Maps screenshots for identificaton of this site.

Most TE friends will assume the middle axis of Our river to demark the border - which is not true. All German-Luxembourgian border rivers (Moselle, Sauer and Our) are condominiums, which means that the rivers belong to both neighbouring countries and are commonly administered. You have not left Rhineland-Palatinate before stepping out of the river on the other side, below the dry branches which mark the land's westernmost point. The deer stand has nothing to do with the extreme point, it is just a welcome item to retrieve it.

What you see beyond the river is Luxembourg. Not worth mentioning from this POV...
