Photographer's Note

A few days ago, I went to the shed you see in the background, to take some shots of it. It was on a late, sunny afternoon, and the corn was still growing on the field. The shed looked beautifully when viewed from the road, as it does on this one. It turned out to be amazingly ugly when seen from close, and it was even more ugly on the photos I made of it that day.

A thunderstorm is hesitating in the air since about two or three weeks now. Today it managed to blow golden leaves off of bushes and trees, to spend a few drops of rain, and no more to that than that.

But it made for the great light and the bold sky I tried to capture. The colors are real, I only added the border, sharpened and resized the image.

Today, the summer has ended.

Well, to learn something from it: Last week I happened to meet a farmer along a track across the fields and asked him about the harvest that was ongoing on the field. He said all the corn has shrivelled because it had been too dry all the time, so the harvest wasn΄t that good.
