Photographer's Note
This is the sculpture "Two large forms" in the park of the former Federal Chancellor's office in Bonn. It's an artwork of the famous English sculptor and artist Henry Moore (1898-1986). He was best known for his abstract monumental bronze sculptures which are located around the world as public works of art. His forms generally are pierced or contain hollow spaces.
The architectural intentions in the competition tender for this building among other things have been "a low urbanistic dominance" and "puristic aesthetic qualities" - and it also shouldn't overtop the surrounding treetops. I think this building meets the demands.
The competition tender for the chancellor's office in Berlin obviously has had quite another intention - a showy and expensive one.
Well, back to the photo...
In 1979 the then chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Helmut Schmidt, initiated the reshaping of the fore court of the chancellor's office and the location of Henry Moore's sculpture.
Today this building is a branch of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
I wonder whether also this sculpture some day will be transported to Berlin ...
In workshop you can see two other views.

Hello Frank,
I have never really got to grips with Henry Moore, though it is fair to say that his work always makes an impact wherever it is sited. These brass ones are rather unusual, I have only really seen black marble or granite pieces before. Your composition puts them in context and shows them off too good effect. I like the way the light picks out the patina and the contrast that they make with the perfect blue sky. Very good colours and sharpness.

Good morning, Frank.
Bronze is a wonderful material. Its advantages have long been assessed very positively. Particularly well presented in bronze sculptures art. Polished and raw, beautifully decorated surfaces such work. I wonder what is the total weight of the monument. I wonder also whether this is a solid cast, or partially empty. Nice job, very well controlled light, pleasant to the eye and the staff friendly colors.

Hallo Frank, the colors in this shot are very righ including the earth tones of the immediate artwork. The flags would have looked better had you had some breeze, but they still look fine. Ha Ha. The blue sky in the background gives lots of vitality to the shot. Alas, I am not a true believer in some of the art found around the globe. At my university, where I was employed, we seemed to cater to the most outlandish and unusal sculptures, and we bought and paid for them with our foundation's money. Indeed no criticism of this art is intended, just a nuance of mine. Great notes. Regards, Roger

Hallo Frank,
Danke
Viele liebe Grόίe nach Siegen

Hi Frank,
A very good picture, and I am really impressed by the sculpture! We also have one of his works here in Gothenburg, I will perhaps upload a photo of that (either here or on Photofolia...). A very creative artist indeed! And you have also succeeded quite well with your capture of this work!
Kind regards
Gunnar

Good evening Frank,
Monumental work is made to last, and will belong to the world heritage very a long time. The point of view and framing are quite selected. The light and the colors are splendid. The good weather returned to Germany. Excellent realization. Congratulations.
Have a good evening.

Hello Frank,
Interesting contrasts between the very square and straight building with its sharp edges, and the swelling, rounded shapes of the sculpture.

Hi Frank,
That oversized blob is so surprising object that it made me smile immediately. I think pursuit of 'pure aesthetic qualities' was successfull on this case.
Well framed with the tree on the left and flags on the right.

dear Frank,
the sculpture looks set at very nice place,
its round form is well contrasted and composed with vertical trees and cubic house,
and its shining colors too,
this whole view is totally artistic,
thank you for your wonderful shot of fine art and surroundings,
Akihisa
