Reflections in Elphi

As promised I now return to the first stop of this years trip, Hamburg, with another photo of the new concert hall Elbphilharmonie. Due to its location on the peninsula of Grasbrook in the river Elbe and in the newly developed district of HafenCity with some other larger buildings around it, it is not always easy to get a clear view of the fascinating architecture of Elphi, as the building has been nicknamed, but when we were walking back to the city centre along the water of the Alsterfleet and the street called Steinhft, we noticed this side view with some great reflections. If you click on the map view and you check out Google Streetview, youll see the area as it was in 2010, when the Elbphilharmonie was still being built.

The Elbphilharmonie (The Elbe Philharmonic Hall) opened in in January 2017. The large glass structure of the concert hall, resembling a ship, waves, or an iceberg, was built on top of a warehouse (Kaispeicher A) from 1963 and was designed by architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron. Theres an observation deck at the 8th floor, on top of the warehouse.
