Photographer's Note
Every autumn in this part of Germany, cows that have been sent to the alpine pastures for the 100 days of summer, to feast on unspoiled grasses and breath clean air, are welcomed home like celebrities. Tents are erected, bands assembled, beer is stocked and people come from all over the region, the country and further to witness the spectacle. Many come wearing Tracht or "traditional clothing" Women in Dirndls and men in lederhosen. If the herd had an accident free summer, there will be a headdress on the lead cow and all cows wear large bells around their necks identifying who they belong to. You can hear the cows coming from miles away. This particular event had 5 herds led down from the mountains. The Allgau region of Germany is truly beautiful and its people are friendly and hospitable. While we know this event is a lot of work for herdsmen and their families (Gawking tourists must make these hardy people laugh) I really enjoy being witness to people honoring their traditions. It's all done with good humor and typical German stoicism.

Hello again, Diana
Very fine portrait. Good selection of DoF, and very nice framing. However, a little sharpening is needed (as usual for web representation, otherwise it looks a bit soft). I have created a worskshop so that you can see the difference.
Thanks for sharing,
Sergey

Hi Diana'
Cool photo. Great DOF. I was in Oberstdorf on this day too but didn't get to see this. I had difficulty in extending my stay at the hotel because of the festival related to cows coming down from their mountain pastures. Only managed to stay for four nights. Beautiful area. Regards. Latiff.
