Trocadιro

Another scanned picture from my recently discovered slides. This time, the photo was taken in 1980, in Paris. To answer your question, which I know you are all asking right now, the blue/purple colour is the direct result of colour deterioration due to the temperature and humidity condition the slides suffered for almost 30 years. The picture was originally taken on AGFACHROME film and I am finding out now that the problem is only with this type of film. All the other slides, taken on Kodachrome 64 and Perutz, show proper colours even if they were subjected to the same neglected conditions.

Photo taken at Jardin du Trocadιro (Trocadero Garden) near the Eiffel Tower and showing the statue of LHomme (the Man) by Pierre Traverse and the gilded bronze statue Taureau et Daim (Bull and Deer) by Paul Jouvre.

The garden is famous because of the remarkable Fountains of Varsovie, created in 1973 by Roger Expert and Paul Mβitre. The Fountains consist of a series of cascading basins, dominated by a large basin, with an array of 20 cannon styled water jets throwing 5,700 liters of water per second to a distance of 50 meters, as well as 56 water sprays throwing water 4 meters out and 12 vertical fountains throwing water 7 meters high.

Estα bem bonita, Antσnio. Aparentemente, jα eras um artista hα 28 anos atrαs ;-) O jogo de αgua estα fabuloso e a colocaηγo das estαtuas estα muito bem conseguida ao nνvel de silhuetas e encaixe nas linhas geomιtricas da composiηγo. Gosto bastante, incluindo as tonalidades do envelhimento da pelνcula.

I know the place (and took a picture of that scupture myself, the sculptor is JOUVE without a "R", great for animals). However, the colors are really strange and thanks to your note, I understand the reason. The same think does not seem to happen to normal films.

ficou bem interessante mesmo o resultado da aηγo do tempo no negativo, mas tambιm, tκm a minha idade a foto! O contraste aqui ficou σtimo, uma das vantagens do filme chromo, embora a chance de perder foto devido ΰ baixa latitude da pelνcula sejam bem altas tambιm.

A pesar del problema con el color, o tal vez incluso gracias a ιl, lo cierto es que la foto me gusta una barbaridad. Tιcnicamente impecable, pero lo que a mν mαs me gusta es la elecciσn de punto de vista de esta equilibrada y atractiva composiciσn que me parece excelente. Como ya dije en otra ocasiσn, estos carretes de fotos antiguos son para guardar como oro en paρo y, si es posible, seguir compartiendo. Parabιns.

Hi Antonio,
you've inspired me to take a look at my old slides too! ;-) This is a wonderful shot. I like the monotone color (even if it is a result of the old film) and the light effects. Good quality for an "old" slide!
I'm wondering if I also had some Agfachrome slides, although I thought I always had Fuji - but I also have slides that lost their color and have suffered severe graining. Perhaps if I take one apart, I can read what type of film it was...
Anyway, a great shot and thanks for sharing and for inspiring me to go back over my old ones!

Fabuloso este teu arquivo! Esta aqui, com a tonalidade diferente em consequκncia do PP natural devido ΰs condiηυes em que os slides foram guardados, ficou muito interessante. A luz refletida na αgua e as estαtuas quase silhuetas deram um efeito muito eficaz visualmente falando, muito bonito.

Concordo com o Ricardo: estα visto que jα eras um grande fotσgrafo hα 28 anos! Gosto imenso da compo e do jogo de luzes e sombras. Tenho a sensaηγo que a luz era muito difνcil de controlar, mas fizeste um trabalho magnνfico, que admiravelmente "resistiu" muito bem ΰ digitalizaηγo. A distorηγo de cores ι uma praga, tanto a que estα no filme, como aqui, como a que tende a ser introduzida pela digitalizaηγo. Eu raramente consigo corrigir esses casos. Mas aqui atι que fica bem!

O registo fotogrαfico ι muito bom, essencialmente no pov escolhido porque apresenta muitos detalhes de luz e sombra.Se fosse feita na era digital seria certamente um trabalho ainda melhor, quando lα voltares iras ter essa oportunidade :)

Excellent compo and light. Those old film photos have their special charm. About the violet tones, they look absolutely great, creating a slightly surrealistic feeling. It must be fascinating to re-discover those old photos and the atmosphere of those times...

Your lifelong passion for photography is amazing. It's wonderful to see how you bring up photos from decades ago, when the digital equipment we have now didn't exist and was unthinkable. I like this one from my birthyear 1980, with the monotone blue and the oh so graphic composition.

A deterioraηγo criou uns tons bonitos como se de um filtro se tratasse. Este tons azulados dγo um tom mais fresco α foto e torna-a mais interessante.
