The nuclear plant of Civaux, brought into service in 1992, is located at the bank edge of Vienna, tributary of the Loire, from which it uses water for its cooling.

It is composed of two nuclear reactors of 1450 megawatts each one, that is to say 2900 megawatts of electric output, to compare with a wind site, as Salles-de-Villefagnan in Charente, which produces with 9 wind turbines, at best 18 megawatts of electric output.

Sun at zenith, in full exposure, the Earth receives on the level of the ground, on average of 1000 Watts per m, (1/1000 megawatt), of purely solar energy, which one cannot use 20% yet, and which one cannot store to mitigate the irregularities of sunning and the cycle day/night.

Civaux is a french commune, located in the department of Vienne of the Poitou-Charentes area. populated of 851 Civaliens, distributed on 26 km, is 32 hab./km.

As of 400, deaths are buried in a necropolis mrovingienne, whose many sarcophagi are still visible. This necropolis extended on several hectares and contained from 7000 to 15000 burials. Hundreds of tombs are still visible in the communal cemetery.
