Photographer's Note
In preparation for my annual week of cycling somewhere-in-France I thought I’d dip into my archive from last year, when some 20,000 or so cyclists gathered in the idyllic town of Brantτme, for a picnic en masse. The town, on an island surrounded by the River Dronne, is often termed “the Venice of the Pιrigord” and is a popular place for taking a canoe down the river and over the weirs, especially on a hot sunny day. On this particular Wednesday, visitors must have been rather bemused by the sudden influx of cyclists descending on the town, along with music, food, drink and general merriment.
This is a view of the Pont Coudι, which dates back to the early 16th century, and which has without doubt never had so many cyclists crossing it as on this day!

This looks like the perfect day!! The lighting and colors are beautiful. A very pretty scene, nice to see all those cyclists. Very interesting architecture! TFS and have a happy day!

Salut Bike Terror,
Ah on dirait que les vacances approchent pour toi, et maintenant que les coureurs du tour de France vont abandonner les routes tu vas pouvoir t'y promener avec tes 20000 amis ! On voit pas beaucoup de velos sur cette image, mais on comprend que c'est un rassemblement car il y a vraiment du monde sur le pont. T'avais vraiment besoin d'un canoλ jaune, tu pouvais pas le changer en rouge... ;-)

Interesting story, Susanna, and nice to know about your annual week of cycling. Still, I would prefer to see the bridge without the crowd. But I like everyting else, including the yellow canoe which is a nice bonus. The framing is very good, the light is lovely and the bridge is beautiful.

un chateau qui n'est pas trιs visitι a ce que je vois, un excellent POV qui donne une belle vision des lieux sous une lumiιre idιale pour avoir des couleurs naturelles, le canoι jaune est trιs bien, en WS je me suis amusι a le rendre rouge pour notre ami JY pour pas qui passe de mauvaises vacances

Bonjour Susanna,
une image un peu festive avec cette foule amassιe sur le pont. Et pourtant tout semble bien calme.
Un excellent document pour les fιrus d'architecture ancienne.
Une note courte mais qui explique l'essentiel.
