La Gιode
I didn’t post for a while but I’m back …with a capture of La Gιode.
La Gιode is an IMAX film theatre equipped with a hemispheric screen of 1000 m2.
It was designed by Adrien Fainsilber and Gιrard Chamayou (engineering), Its diameter is 36 and the outer shell consists of 6433 triangular stainless steel elements. Reflected in the Geode you can see the exciting Citι des sciences et de l'industrie : here.
Both edifices are located in the Parc de la Villette . It’s the largest park in Paris and it was designed by Bernard Tschumi. It occupies the former slaughterhouse grounds. The large cattle market hall still reminds one of this. In the work shop is a picture of this fine steel and glass edifice with the reflection of one the park’s 19 typical red ‘folies’.
The process: I had my old and trusted Olympus 8080 and the F30 with me during our short but delightful trip to Paris. I left the Canon home ‘cause its walk around lens was undergoing surgery -a new IS system. The metering of the F30 did the best job with this scene, so today again an offering made with this nifty little thing ;-).
The tech: my standard PCS3 work flow: altered the saturation, contrast, curves and levels for the whole pic and some elements separately, using different layers, enhanced the edges, USM-ed, added a frame and resized and did a gentle USM again.

Hallo Bert,
Inderdaad poosje geleden dat we je gezien hebben.
Ondanks dat je geen Canon bij je had toch een fraaie kunstzinnige foto met zware contrasten en kleurtinten, precies wat ik heel graag mag zien.
De opbouw is erg mooi, vooral ook omdat je dat gebeouw links hebt meegenomen in de compositie...prima stukje werk.

Hi Bert, to me it is the difference in the sky behind the sphere and the sky reflected on it that makes this image really hard to achieve. Excellent light management. Cheers,

A truly amazing shot. The reflections show a blue sky and very nice white clouds and at the same time you see a rather cloudy and grey sky behind the globe. Very well seen and excellent timing. A superb job! Have fine Sunday!

Hello Bert,
As I live near of Gιode and that I pass in front of very often I it put several times on TE.
Here I like the way in which the very ugly cement building which is in front of is integrated into the photograph

Hallo Bert,
Wat die moderne architecten niet allemaal verzinnen om bij ons op de foto te komen. Ik stoor me hier eigenlijk wel aan het scherpe contrast tussen de grauwe beton en het verfijnde glanswerk van de halve bol. Maar je hebt het weer subliem in beeld gebracht.

Ik dacht al dat Bert er de brui had aangegeven, ik zou u deze week een mail sturen, om te kijken als u niet tussen wal en schip was terecht gekomen.
Maar nee, Bert is uit het goede hout gesneden en is een echte Flying Dutchman.
Bert, en dit in Parijs gevonden aan de oude veemarkt, prachtig werk met de globe als onderwerp.
Al die weerspiegelingen van de wolken en andere gebouwen, dit is een kunstwerk.
Mooie samenstelling.

Very pleasant and nice to see how the grey sky is combined with a blue one reflecting in the dome. Also the reflection of the sun in the water on the concrete is very nice.

Goed je weer te zien op TE! Prachtige foto van Parijs, interessante grote bol met mooie vervormde spiegelingen. Ik vind het leuk om de grijze lucht als achtergrond te zien, terwijl de bol een blauwe lucht laat zien. Mooi werk!

Funny to see that the surface reflect a blue sky, but the foreground looks dark and threatening.

One of the best shot on the Geode, I've seen for a while. The pov and the crop are excellent and make it really sci-fi style. And the soft light was the best you could get...

Interesting capture Bert. I love the reflection in the glass. It has an odd effect because it reflects blue sky, but behind it looks quite stormy. I love the result. Great capture.
