Sθte is a French commune of the department of Herault and Languedoc-Roussillon area, populated of 43 400 Sιtois and Sιtoises distributed on 24 km², is 1792 hab/km². It is the town of artists like Paul Valιry, George Brassens, Manitas de Plata, Jean Vilar, the brothers Di Rosa.

Each year, take place in Sθte, during Saint-Louis, in august, water tournaments controls by precise rules. These tournaments are a Languedocien tradition of which the origin go up at the XVIIθme century.
Two men, the "ajustaοres", on a platform installed with back of two boats, the "tintaine", armed with a lance and protected by a shield, the "pavois", try to be made fall into water when them boats cross. These boats are propelled by ten oarsmen ordered by an owner coxswain, while with before an Oboe and a drum play the traditional air of these engagements.
The winners become local celebrities.

Very unusual night shot with the statue lit in blue. I also like the WS which you presumably took earlier before it got so dark. I like both equally. It must have been a difficult choice which to have as your main post.

I heard about that competition but never saw any capture or movie, now I get a better idea. Strong and powerful composition, well enlighted and sharp. The blue from the light works well and as Kath I like the workshops too.

Hello Joλl,

Very difficult for take but you did this very lovely with the blue "Le Jouteur" as real eye catcher.
Also the lanterns in background care for a excellent contrast against the black background.

I remember seeing the jousting in Sete some twenty years ago, a very interesting spectacle. Your picture of this statue is none the less so. Excellent point of view and very good clarity. The exposure is well managed and the tones good. Nice work.

Bonjour joel,

Tres belle image oω la couleur bleue de ce jouteur ressort tres bien. Il y a aussi des joutes pas loin de chez moi, sur le Rhτne.
Pour concentrer sur celui-ci, j'ai fait un petit WS dans la verticale.

What a stange monument here! It reminds me about Soviet monuments like "Girl with an oar" or "Working woman", huge amount of which were standed near stadiums, other sport objects, sanatoriums, etc..
Very well-taken shot with unusual and interesting lightness.

Bonjour Joel,
A unique post with the blue light ray on the statue, and yellow bulb-glare on street-lamps on BG.
Contrast onto the black sky is perfect.
