Photographer's Note
Arrival of the Tour de France, Champs Elysees, France.
As a friend who had a spare ticket for the TGV-tran to Paris asked me at last minute, I spontaniously went to Paris this weekend. The arrival of the Tour de France was a perfect occasion to take some shots. However not being used to take this kind of pictures the task was not very easy. Here a cropped shot I like a lot, because of the speed captured in it. Unfortunately it's not entirely sharp.

Bravo pour cette belle image d'un Tour tres contreversι cette annιe. Il y a de belles couleurs dans ce sprint final et l'effet de vitesse est tres bien realisι.

At this kind of speed I imagine getting a sharp image to be very difficult indeed! But your panning technique is very effective and the impression of speed is definitely there. Great that you've filled the frame with the cyclists who appear to be jostling for space, and the elongate crop works well with the travelling subject.

Hello, Mike--
Nice work here, it's not completely sharp, but for not having much experience panning, this is a great first effort. Maybe it would have been a little bit better if you had thought to consider the background before you took the shot and composed it such that the line between the dark and light parts of the background wasn't at the horizontal halfway point.

Bonjour Mike,
Autant je ne suis pas tres fan des courses cyclistes, autant je trouve que tu as reussi une jolie capture. Le rendu du file est vrai bon et transcrit vraiment le mouvement du peloton tout en gommant un arriere plan pas toujours esthetique lorsqu il est net.
Bonne idee aussi d avoir laisse la barriere en bas, je trouve que ca structure bien l image en lui donnant une assise.
