Photographer's Note
As a tourist in Paris, one has almost an obligation to pay a visit to Notre Dame.... and so did I.
After an overwhelming tour, I had to "take a break" outside. My eye was captured by this statue adorning one of the side-entrances. The total view is impressive, with several statues on each side and more bas-reliefs all around them than possibly conceivable. However, I was fascinated by the expression of compassion of this particular one.
I have tried to isolate the figure's eyes (or at least the head) by blurring the rest at f/2.8 and zooming up to 210mm. I was lucky that the weather was not exceptionally good so that I could profit from a neutral and diffuse light. I have applied a slight color correction to reduce the overall blueish tone.
