Photographer's Note

Erdre is a river starting in Maine-et-Loire, not far from Angers, and ending in river Loire in the centre of Nantes. The most interesting part of the river is the one from Versailles quay in Nantes to Nort-sur-Erdre, about 30 kilometers to the north of Nantes. In many places river Erdre is large and looks like a lake, a perfect place for water sports such as sailing or rowing as you can see on the photo. The river also has a great reputation for the manors and castles along the river, often called "Folies Nantaises" (follies of Nantes). On the photo you can see my favourite one, Gascherie castle, in La Chapelle-sur-Erdre, just a few minutes walk from my home.

The photo was taken on a sunday morning walk, just close to Vieux Gachet inn, in Gachet village in Nantes. There's a very pleasant walk here along the river to Saint-Jean port, with nice views on the river and on some of the "Folies Nantaises". As you can see, the sky was very blue, but it was cold and there was a very unpleasant wind coming from east. So it was not a very comfortable walk when you were exposed to the wind ! But it was worth it !
