Superbes couleurs. Superbe cadrage, on dirait que la foudre tombe sur bateau. Très impressionnant (même si c'est le pur hasard puisqu'on ne sait jamais ou cela va tomber, il fallait être là tout de même).

since the focal point is the lighting to me and that is in focus this image works for me It would have been nice to have seen ship in focus don't get me wrong excellent decisive moment shot glad you shared this with us all, composition is good also and I think the clouds blue colors are marvelous as well

I have pursuing a big storm like this for a lot of time ... with no results. Nice capture of this spectacular lightning. The ship lights are a bit blurred but I deduce this is the result of a long exposition or a huhe aperture.

Wow, it's the time for lightning shots it seems. There where quite a few in the last days. And this one is again a unique one. Is the ship struc be the lightning? I can't see it exactly. Anyway, excellent exposure here. We can see nice details not only on this fantastic lightning but also on the ship, the clouds and the pier. Very well done.

Hello Dominique! I like very much photos with lighnings. What I like about the picture? First of all the moment was caught ideally. It looks as if the lightning was hitting the ship. Second, the lightning starts deep in the clouds giving them beautyfull lights. To summarise +2 points!

Génial ! Un décor de film catastrophe, la lumière dans le ciel déchiré par l'éclair est grandiose. Bien aussi les teintes chaudes des lumières à gauche. Une très,très grande réalisation.
Voilà un éclair qui cartonne sur TE ! Une photo inoubliable dans la lignée du nuage lenticulaire. BRAVO ! On en redemande ...

Les nuances de couleurs sur les nuages creees par l'arc electrique sont egalement superbes.

Always impressive to be able to catch a strike of lightning, Dominique. Very good how it breaks out from in between the clouds, and strikes towards the ship. Good handling of the exposure, and the dramatic feel is enhanced by the all-blue color setting that is only broken by the streetlights on the pier. Great shot.

On a l'impression que le navire est atteint par la foudre.
Suite aux précisions complémentaires fournies au niveau des paramètres, je lève mon chapeau pour cet exploit.
Avec un APN limité à 2 secondes de pause et un diaphragme restreint, tu as su nous présenter une très bonne image.

Amazing. Excellent detail in the lightning showing it apparently passing behind a small cloud and plenty of interest in the foreground. It might put people off sea cruises though!

Another masterful shot of a decisive moment.
You had to be just in the right spot to get this shot...amazing. The composition, exposure and colours are great.
I was particularly interested in this shot because I have a S5000 and thought the 2 sec time exposure would not be good enough for good night shots. I was wrong and must go and experiment. Like some of the other comments above, I thought the ship could have been sharpened a bit, so I have done a workshop, hope you don't mind.

Il s'agit certes d'un moment décisif mais aussi d'un paysage rendu grandiose par cette masse nuageuse et la couleur du ciel. Le bateau illuminé est bien sur le point de convergence du regard de par la position de l'éclair.

At first glance it looks as though it hit the ship- but I don't think it did.

What an incredible capture. All the more remarkable that these are natural colors, the blues are so vivid. I have a few shots hiding at home of lightning, but I have never been able to get the shot so clear and striking. I also enjoy the contast of the yeloow lights; it breaks the blues up just enough.

Fantastic! You were at the right place at the right time. Feels like the lightning is shooting from the ship and upwards. Great colors especially of the sky. The yellow lights gives it a little color variance.

that was a fabulous timing Dominique. with night shot precision with glows on the waters all came out fantastic. Sharpness is a bit off but considering the moment, its nothing. Great capture of lightning
