AN TI KORNEG, SANT RIWAL, BRO GERNE

THE CORNEC HOUSE, SAINT RIVOAL, BRITTANY

This house was built in 1702 for Yvon Cornec, a rich peasant of Northern Brittany. The area was rich by the weaving and the trade of linen sails. This house is characteristic by its “apoteiz”, a breton word for the advanced part. Inhabitants used to place the table or the weaving loom there.

In the ’70 and ’80, new breton house adopted this plan and one can see such modern white houses in the breton countryside. This one became a rural life museum.

This house can be placed in the theme Most famous houses of Brittany
