Photographer's Note
2 km from the tip of the Arcouest, north of Paimpol, Brehat is the center of a dozen islands and found traces of occupation dating from the Neolithic. These are the visible traces of a time when Breton islands were not islands, but peaks separated by valleys coastal current coastline: to settle, our Neolithic ancestors did not have to get wet feet! Here as elsewhere, the coastal landscape, then experienced major changes. The volume of the sea has varied with climate. The water locked in ice during cold periods, was released for the warming of the atmosphere to return to the oceans, creating these islands.
Traces of occupation during the Gallo-Roman period.
PARISH Brehat, landlocked in the diocese of Saint-Brieuc was part of the deanery Lanvollon under the bishopric of Dol and was in the words of St. Samson and Notre Dame.
In the Middle Ages, Brehat becomes a strategic military point, and the Duke of Penthievre decided to fortify the island. Despite these fortifications, Brehat is regularly invaded by the English, and even the Spaniards.
Many personalities and artists stayed on the island: Prosper Mιrimιe, Ernest Renan, Pierre Loti, Theodore Botrel, brothers Edmond and Jules de Goncourt, Paul Gauguin, Andre Barsacq, Emil Cioran, Robert Giraud or Keiichiro Kume.

Valerie,
This is a nicely composed shot of these fine stone buildings. The purple flowers frame the scene nicely as well as providing a nice splash of color for the shot. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has excellent sharpness.
