Photographer's Note

Wherever you might me in Lyon, just look a bit higher, to the west. Unless you have a big building in front of you, you'll be able to see Notre Dame de Fourviθre's Basilica.

It has been built between 1872 and 96, on the Fourviθre's hill, 300 meters high. From there you can have a great panorama over all the city, laying 120 meters below... Completely at the west, the sun is setting behind it, giving goop opportunities if you want to play on that light. This picture was taken in the end of december '04, after all the snowy clouds darer to begin leaving the sky and letting a small sunlight before sunset.

Fourviθre is often called "The Elephant", because of its massive aspect, where one can see an huge elephant laying on his back, the towers being his feet. But from the inside, it is much more decorated, even too much according to half of the city's inhabitants. It offers, mosaics, marbles, vitraux...

(I just slightly increased the contrast on this picture. The original one was an 1/2 second exposure).
