Photographer's Note
Ce château est en fait une partie du bâtiment de l'hopital de Fourvière, situé non loin de la Basilique, à Lyon.
J'aime beaucoup cette architecture qui semble tout droit sortie d'un conte de fées médiéval, avec cette tour au toit éxagérément pointu.
Le dernier matin de 2006 j'ai eu la chance de shooter sur cette bâtisse une lumière qui créait une atmosphère étrange, que je trouve proche de celle du roman et du cinéma de genre fantasy médéviale.
Pour mémoire, quelques références de ce genre particulier où cohabitent êtres fantastiques, sorcellerie et magie : Excalibur, Le Seigneur des Anneaux, Harry Potter, etc.
Pour accentuer le côté mystérieux et fantastique propre à l'univers de la fantasy, j'ai pratiqué une forte variation de teinte sur le ciel.
Vous trouverez en WS une version plus proche de l'original, avec surtout un ciel plus naturel.

This castle is in fact a part of Fourvière hospital, located near the Basilica, in Lyon.
I like this architecture which seems coming from a medieval fairy tale, with this very pointed tower roof.
The last morning of 2006 I've had chance to shoot this masonry under this light which created a strange atmosphere. I found it resembling to those of the medieval fantasy novels and movies.
Some references of this particular style where fantastic people, sorcery and magic cohabit : Excalibur, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, etc.
To make the picture closer to the mysterious and fantastic atmosphere of the fantasy, I've practised a strong colour variation in the sky.
You will find in WS a closer to the original version, with a more natural sky.

Although the sky color in the main post looks eire and probably will draw a lot of attention even as a thumbnail I tend to prefer the WS version. Additionally to look more natural it doesn't present all the pixelation that the main post does. Sorry, but this time I will have to give you just a light green smile.

i think your pp on this does make it look like a fantasy castle. however, i do like the original a bit more. the colour of the sky contrasts a little better with the building than in the photoshopped version. but the posted version is still good. it has a strong pov and does emote that eerie feeling you mentioned. well done...

effectivement, on se croirait plus dans le chateau de la Belle et la Bête que dans un centre hospitalier.
Il y a aussi une certaine magie mais d'un tout autre ordre !!! le traitement choisi amplifie le resultat escompté que je trouve parfaitement traduit.

This is very nice but I do prefer the WS version. I believe it is the sky colour. Otherwise, the composition is excellent with that round tower well placed on the side. Well done.

Salut JB,
perso, je préfère la version "originale" en WS, elle fait moins trafiquée... Mais en plus on arrive à des ciels marrons clairs sur Lyon lors de la Fête des Lumières lorsque le ciel est bien nuageux.
Au niveau de la composition, j'aime bien, cela met bien en valeur cet édifice.

You have some wonderful work in your gallery and you are not afraid to experiment.
Whilst I do prefer the original colours in the WS, I can see what you were trying to achieve here and it works well. The composition is very good and the light on the chateau is excellent with the dark shadows creating an even more eerie atmosphere.

et bien peu importe la couleur du ciel, une chose est sûre c'est que tu as bénéficié d'une excellente lumière ce matin là ! Je suis impressionné par la luminosité du mur et des volets. Je trouve également bien vu le reflet du soleil dans la vitre. Bravo pour ce post et pour cette ambiance fantastique

I like the colour of the sky here, but don't like the pixels that came out... But on the other hand I like very much your WS - original blue sky - so much that I'll look at it as the main post. The composition is wonderful and the feeling magical.

C'est gagné pour une ambiance mystérieuse voire tragique.
Composition idéale pour me dissuader de me faire soigner là bas :) L'image accroche bien.
J'apprécie beaucoup ce genre, mais le WS nous ramène à la réalité par son image plus rassurante.

The magnificent sky with its alluring tones combine with the fine light on the facade to produce a most effective photo. I like this low angle POV, the contrast with the dark trees, and the overall clarity of detail. Your note is most interesting and diefinitely resonates with truth regarding the fantasies of Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, etc. Very fine work...demain.
