Photographer's Note

The Ξle Barbe (originating in the island's Latin name, Insula Barbara, barbarian island) is an island in the middle of the Saτne river, in the 9th arrondissement of Lyon, France. A monastery was founded on this small island from the fifth century. This was the first monastic establishment of the Lyon region.
Of the three medieval churches still do now that the Roman church Notre-Dame, built in the late eleventh century.
In 1827 a suspension bridge is constructed to connect the island to both banks of the Saτne river. This is one you can see in the picture.
