Photographer's Note
La Meije is a mountain in the Massif des Ιcrins range, located at the border of the Hautes-Alpes and Isθre dιpartements. It overlooks the nearby village of La Grave, a mountaineering centre and ski resort.
La Meije is composed of three principal summits. The highest point is the Grand Pic de la Meije at 3,984 metres. The Grand Pic is notorious in that there is no "easy" path to the top. For this reason, La Meije was the last major peak in the Alps to be summited. The first ascent was made on August 16, 1877 by Pierre Gaspard and his son and their client Emmanuel Boileau de Castelnau. In 1891, J. H. Gibson, U. Almer and F. Boss made the first traverse of the ridge, from west to east.
The Doigt de Dieu (English: Finger of God), a large snow-clad tower at the east end of the ridge, overhanging the south slopes, is an attraction for mountaineers of various levels of ability.

The village on the right is Hiιres, this view is captured climbing to refuge of Golιon, in the other side of the valley.

Une trθs belle image de ce magnifique massif de la Meije . La qualitι du clichι est superbe . Le seul petit dιfaut , ΰ mon humble avis , est au niveau du cadrage : le joli clocher du village est trop prθs du bord de l'image .

Congratulations for this very nice mountain picture. The composition is good, even if the village could have been less on the right (with a more panoramic format). And the sharpness is very good.

Hi Elena,
What a magnificent mountain range, it's simply stunning! I would have guessed this was actually somewhere in Switzerland. Gorgeous transformation from the snow capped peaks to the lush, green hillsides. Love the panoramic composition, and the smart inclusion of the village at the bottom right corner to give the scale and scope of these impressive mountains. Perfect light balance, there's so much sharp detail and dimension from this exposure. This is certainly a view to enjoy, the landscape speaks for itself. :) Thanks for sharing a blissful look.
