Moved away from Montpellier and Nimes of 30Km, the Grau-of-King is the only maritime outlet of Gard. The city is batie along a grau. It is the local name of a channel connecting the littoral ponds to the sea. The activity of fishing gradually decreased since half of the 20th century to the profit of the tourist activity. It was developp a seaside resort, and a marina known under the name of the Port-Camargue. One finds there also an aquarium important.
