Photographer's Note
The church at Etretat used to belong to Fιcamp Abbey. All that survives of the fine early 12th c. Romanesque edifice is the faηade and the first six bays of the nave. The last two bays, the transept, with its lantern tower, and the chancel were rebuilt in a very elegant Gothic style in c. 1200.
The nave elevation is on two levels : large arcades communicating with the side aisles, and tall windows above a horizontal plain moulding. On the first level, powerful single cylinder columns, with mostly just rough cut capitals, support circular arches decorated with herringbone or embattled fret. The Romanesque part of the nave was originally not vaulted. The west front is beautiful but austere. Bounded by two flat buttresses, the gable end is bare but for the fine door, with arching decorated with various geometrical patterns around a tympanum added in 1866.
You can also read more about this church here (in French).
There are hundreds of of pictures here on TE of the famous cliffs, but this seems to be the first one of this beautiful church!

Good morning, Gunnar!
A church like grown out of the soil! I like its simple, humble appearance very much. There's not much distracting people from what is important here. Nevertheless it's somehow an impressive building ... a worth-showing one. Sorry - I have no points left ... please take this: ;-))
Greetings from very hot Siegen!

Hello Gunnar,
A fine capture of this imposing church, which stands out beautifully against the limpid blue sky. The warm tones of the lovely doorway make a nice contrast with the surrounding stonework. Very good colours and sharpness.
PS I had to clone in rather than clone out :-)

Hej Gunnar,
It's just as well that there was noone with a red teeshirt here. That would have distracted a bit from the fine faηade of the church, maybe also from the nice lines and angles formed by the various elements of the construction. The green hillside goes parallel to part of the faηade in front of the north (?) aisle. There's great beauty in the grey church against the blue sky. Nicely saturated colours.

Hi Gunnar! In point of fact impresses the architecture of church in the important blue sky that you erase But it impresses also the fine door, with arching decorated with various geometrical patterns around a tympanum
Have a nice day.

Hej Gunnar,
Wonderful capture. The weather and lighting seem to have been perfect. Excellent clarity and colours. I note though that it looks like you were not straight in front of the church when you took this photo since some lines are not perfectly vertical. This could easily happen when you shoot tall building. It has happened to me as well many times. TFS and have a nice evening!

the blue is fabulous and the composition is marvellous. i love the way the imposing building ahs been framed and captured. great work indeed.
I have put up an exhibition of Delhi Monuments called 'Freedom Frames -Monumental Milestones'at the very prestigious Habitatworld in Delhi...and its got decent coverage, listing and reviews in the media...I have added all those clippings on the 'making news' page on my website www.aadiljamal.com
I wanted to share this personal achievement with you and all my mates on TE and thank all of you for helping me evolve as a photographer. I am sure you'll be proud of me!!

Bonjour Gunnar,
