Photographer's Note

Pesmes, village of Haute-Sane (Franche-Comt) between the cities of Besanon and Dijon.

This village, born around a church and a castle in the 11th century, was part of the Holy Roman Empire's fortified towns. At that time, situated to the borders of Kingdom of France, it has been by turns pillaged, burned and ravaged by wars until annexation of Franche-Comt by France in 1678.
