Photographer's Note

I happened to drive by Arboretum Mustila and decided to take a short break. The rhododendron and azaleas happened to still be in bloom, so I was lucky!

But just as spectacular as the rhododendron were the conifier trees! Amazing how well (and fast!) foreign trees grow there.

I happened to hear overhear a guided tour. The guide was asked how the rhododendron and other plants are protected for the winter. The guides simple answer was that they don't protect them in any way. If the plant dies, then it is not suitable for Finnish conditions. I.e. it is useless. ;-/ Harsh, but quite true.

There will be more images from the Arboretum. Hopefully photographically more interesting. But I thought I'd start with this as it best describes the place.
