Photographer's Note
With air temperature well below -20 and water temperature constantly at 0 degrees on the never freezing Tammerkoski rapid, the temperature difference makes water steam.
The pedestrian bridge is a temporary one. As I have mentioned before Hδmeensilta, the bridge on the main street of Tampere, was rebuilt as part of preparations for new tram network. And this walk bridge was built to avoid congestion. It is still there, I'm not sure for how long.

Hello Kari,
The title was well chosen, to say the least. It really looks cold, so to many members on the site this must be one of the most exotic photos today. You captured the steaming water, the smoke from the chimney, pale light and pale colours very well.
Regards,
Gert

Hello Kari,
Even though it's around 25c here, it still sent a shiver through me looking at this frigid scene! Good tonal range, sharpness, and almost a monochromatic b&w shot, with just the faintest hint of colour. Tfs!

Hello Kari,
Thank you for including these descriptive notes to explain what is happening on your photograph! It is truly fascinating!
You chose a very good viewpoint, using the footbridge to separate the rising steam from the buildings.
I love the comparison between the steam that is a natural phenomenum and the smoke rising from the tower, a man-made phenomenum.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Kari, certainly a sight that would not be seen in the UK!
I can imagine the cold that is presented here.
The bridge acts as a dividing line between the steam and the smoke.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello,
Spectacular scene, it must have been quite a morning, difficult even to hold the camera. We had once these temperatures and I remember it was horrible :)))
Great catch, enjoy warmer days!
