White water lily (Nymphaea alba) is an aquatic flowering plant. It is native to North Africa, Europe and Asia. In Finland it grows typically on muddy ponds and small lakes. It was fun to row boat around the flower trying to find the best angle.

Hello Kari,
This may be slightly less spectacular than Jean's lotus flower the other day, but maybe that is only because we are so used to seeing these water lilies in our part of the world. In fact it's just as beautiful, perhaps in a more discreet way. I like how the flower is surrounded by the large leaves and that you managed such a technically fine photo from your rowing boat.

Looks tricky to get the right angle, as with lotus flowers but you found a good angle with just enough of the centre to get the yellow glow. Well done.

White water lily...
Isn't that just gorgeous pure white? I wish I had a pond! Looks a bit like a boiled egg with the yellow centre when the bud first starts to open. The large green leaves lends a nice framing with superb contrast to dark water. This is a gem, and so well captured.

A simple but powerful shot of the white water lily with the yellow pollen stamens that contrast well with the dark blue water. Tfs! Good sharpness too.
