Gammel Strand by Night

Heres a new picture in my theme about Copenhagen by Night, the eleventh in the series. It shows Gammel Strand, which means Old Beach, located in the heart of the city. It was taken in June, almost half an hour past midnight.

Gammel Strand is now located between Nybrogade and Hjbro Plads and opposite the isle of Slotsholmen, but in the Middle Ages it was here the coastline was and the place actually was a beach, where fishermen probably came to land with their catch. The fish was also sold to the citizens of Copenhagen at this place.
Nowdays it is a very popular place and also one of the sunniest in the city. Every Saturday theres a flea market.
The water you can see is Slotsholmskanalen. The tower in the background is part of Kbenhavns Rdhus (Copenhagen Town Hall).

Gammel Strand in the daytime can be seen here.

Hope you like this picture. :-)
