Photographer's Note
I try here to present a different view of the often photographed Charles Bridge. It was taken on a dull day from the eastern side of the Vltava river near the Smetana museum. After de-saturating and adjusting for extreme contrast in PS, I selected the sky then employed the contract, feather and expand commands to create the halo effect via levels layers.

Hey Vic,
I've never seen a photo from Charles Bridge, or maybe I have but I can't recognize it now. I like what u've got like a final product here after applying the changes u;ve made, it kinda brought me backwards in time. It's amazing.

Well, you are perhaps sailing close to the wind in regards to the site's policy on PP - but I like it!

Hi, Vic. This is indeed an original view of this world famous place. I like the silhouettes standing out against the background. The effect is really nice and it's auite difficult to make out where the statues are. I had seen the pic this morning and couldn't find it back. I got the explanantion in your reply to Stephen.

Hi Vic, this one is very striking indeed - an original and refreshing view of the Charles Bridge (on the thumbnail it looks like a cemetary). Great sharp silhouettes, interesting shapes and figures, and your halo effect adds much to the photo. Good work!

Hello Vic,
This is a very interesting tecnique. I cannot remember any similar pictures on this site. This effect provides the bridge with a very special atmosphere. You cannot tell which figures are sculptures and which are living people.

Vic, je n'ai pas tout compris de la manip mais le rιsultat me plaξt beaucoup. On a ainsi un halo qui entoure chaque sujet en contre-jour. Une photo d'excellente facture.

Hi Vic,
I'm not so keen on the halo effect, but the statues of the Charles Bridge do look superb as silhouettes. It also works very well in B&W.
I'd have liked to have seen a version of this shot without the halo effect for comparison. Personally I'm not too keen on heavy PP of this type, it can often get in the way of an otherwise good image. I think that's the case here, but at the end of the day it's all down to personal taste.
Cheers,
Ben

It's definitely different Vic, a bit surreal and pleasantly spooky, it does push the PP limits but I personally don't mind a bit, something that pleases the eye and forces one to open the thumbnail, it works in this case in my opinion.

Excellent image. The post processing worked very well in producing a picture with great impact. The passersby are indistinguishable from the statues - frozen in time - and the halo effect is very apt given the religious theme.

Hello vic
The idea is good but i think the sky part is too homogeneous even with halo parts. With this pp it look like a cartoon drawing more than a picture. Anyway, I like the general idea you intend to produce here.
Best regards
JMarc
