If you are travelling from the Zadar ferry port, you should pay attention to which one, as there is two (arguably 3) places where ferries depart from Zadar.
The main ferry port in Zadar is Gaženica, which is the most modern ferry terminal in the country, it is located 3.5 km south of the old town, all domestic car ferries from Zadar, depart from here. At port you will find everything you would expect from a modern ferry terminal. If you are travelling by foot, you can reach Gaženica port with city bus line number 9 from the old town or from the bus station.
The other port in Zadar is not really a port, but a docking location in the harbour, east of the old town, where you will find all passenger only catamarans and motorships to the islands in the Zadar archipelago as well as to Pula and Rijeka. A bit further north on the east side of the old town peninsula, you will find the docking location for the Zadar Ancona ferry.
