Ghent Centre car free area
The pedestrian area is expanded in the historic center. In a car-free area, which is marked with special signs, there can only be driven at walking pace. Pedestrians have priority. Parking is not there, loading and unloading it. Residents with a permit may be driving up in their garage or loading and unloading at the height of their homes.
With the extension of the pedestrian area of Ghent wants to make the city more livable, improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists and improve the flow of public transport.
To ensure the internal traffic flow, will now and then change directions

Wat een prachtige foto van de Gentse korenmarkt. Ondanks de moderne kleding doet deze foto door de fijne belichting en compositie mij denken aan een prent met een afbeelding uit de vorige eeuw.
Als de weerprofeten er niet naast zitten krijgen we een paar mooie dagen met voorzichtig lente weer.

Een prachtige foto van de vele stijlvolle gevels rond om de markt. De mensen op het plein geven een levendige, maar niet te drukke sfeer aan de foto. Het zachte licht is heel fijn en laat de kleuren mooi uitkomen.

Lovely picture from your archive. The view from this side is less shown. I like such places that are for pedestrians only. superb composition, nice colours, good depth. When I was there the building of Post Office was in scaffolding and didn't look so well.

Hello John,
This is an excellent composition with very appealing light and colours. I like how the buildings on both sides are seen on opposing diagonals pointing towards the elongated pedestrian area. It is an architecturally beautiful area where no building seems to break the pattern.

Hello John,

Isn't it relaxing to have a city centre without the intrusion of vehicles!
Your photograph, emphasises how relaxed everything seems, no traffic signs, no curbs, everyone just enjoying the walk and the freedom.
You have chosen a spot which makes the l/h line of buildings guide seamlessly into the distance, creating a fine sense of perspective, whilst the r/h buildings create a sort of blocker, trying to keep attention in the square, and they finish almost on the thirds line.
A lovely dip into the centre of Ghent!

Hello John,

The clocktower at left is well positioned on the vertical 1/3 axis. Good sharpness & the people in the square add scale & animate the scene. Excellent warm cold color contrasts too between the orange & blue. Tfs!

Hallo John,
Blijkbaar heb ik deze gemist.
De mooie architectuur wordt haarscherp gepresenteerd.
Een aangenaam voetgangersparadijs op de voorgrond (doch opletten voor de tram!).
Heel wat wolken in de lucht maar toch is er zon, te zien aan de schaduwen van de mensen.
Mooie compositie waarin de prachtige lucht naast de architectuur terecht een grote plaats inneemt.

I like the space in the foreground and how the buildings come in from the sides which funnels the eye through the shot. Lovely detail and colours, it's an excellent capture my friend...
