La composition est excellente avec le bateau idéalement placé devant ces superbes façades de Ghent. La lumière n'était visiblement pas exceptionnelle, surtout sur les façades mais cela n'empêche pas d'apprécier l'image réalisée.
Il y a plein de taches dans le ciel (un nettoyage de capteur à réaliser?)

Dear John,

This photo is destined to become a classic, and I am happy to be among its first viewers. It really does capture the mood of Venice, but the architecture of Belgium. A baby grand piano being paddled down the river during June of 2009. It is -10°C here in Virginia, and a summer scene, especially from Ghent, is especially appealing.

This is an interesting boat with a grand piano on it. The gives new meaning to Water Music. The angle of the shot is nice giving the shot a sense of direction. The lighting and colors are fine and the photo has fine sharpness.

An attractive well composed shot featuring these gondoliers and their flower bedecked boat. The lovely buildings on the far bank make a splendid backdrop for the scene. Light, colours and sharpness are all good features.

It looks like in Venice indeed. But Venice gondolas are to narrow to have a piano on it. The guitarre is better or just gondoliere singing. Crazy idea here! Beautiful flowers and strange red objects, I do not know what it is. Marvelous old houses of Gent.

yes, there is a venetian mood in this compo, anyway we can see the buildings ahead, so beautiful, and they aren't venetian. good framing, the strange boat with a piano inside is a fabulous subject. nice job

Bonjour John,

Il faut être un virtuose pour faire du piano dans de telles conditions et de la force dans le poignet pour faire avance un tel poids sur l'eau !!! Mais heureusement ce jour là le fleuve était calme... Une belle photo estivale sur cette manisfestation colorée et lumineuse. Effectivment c'est très Vénicien et surtout romantique. Un cadrage serré appréciable, merci John.

the sight on this boat carrying the pianist and his piano, decorated with flowers, and a rower who looks like a gondolier, is a scene a bit surreal but very nice, under an interesting concept of music and boats on the water.
The architectural beauty of the city, wich we can see in the background, is a magnificent aesthetic complement your composition.
A good work with the light and colors, in an image with high quality.

What a great picture that shows us this beautiful city, I love the POV, with this boat so ornate and beautiful as a backdrop, the splendid facades that overlook the canal.
Fantastic colors and good management of light a little difficult with that sky of white clouds, but the result is great. Well done. TFS.

The architecture is of course fantastic with fine details.But to me the heavy duty gondola with a concert grand on it seems ill advised acoustically.Haendel with his Water Music scored for wind instruments had a better idea.But we should be talking about the picture which is great.Best wishes Wolf.

A Piano on a boat? Some do go through some trouble to bring music with them. I would just bring a cd playern :) Beautiful shot of the local attraction. Gret light even if it's a little cloudy. Beautiful composition and all are in good details form the people on the boat to the wonderful architectures.

Hello John,

A wonderful wide angle shot of Venice in Ghent. It really does give an impression of being in Venice. But the magnificent architecture in the background tells us that we are in Ghent. Foreground full of gondola accentuate the cheerful atmosphere of the event. The people in the background are seem to be enjoying the arrival of the early summer season. Thank you for this wonderful image. I wish I can be a part of all this.

Seems like everybody wants to have a Venice in their neigborhood...including Las Vegas! But our gondolas doesn't have a piano! Nicely captured with good pov and dof with sharp details. Awesome colors. Very well done, tfs.

this is an excellently composed picture with marvellous depth and lighting. It has a fascinating 3D effect: the buildings have it against the sky, the umbrellas and the people on the quay and the gliding boat in the foreground too. I love the way the people, the details and the few bright colours stand out in the almost monochromatic setting. I also love the texture of the water and the smooth movement of the boat on it. Hello John,

You're capturing well this place by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the architectures with tasteful structure in medieval times and tourist boats as the gondola which is rowed in the calm canal. It's also impressive in manu windows and the triangular top.
