Photographer's Note

The Moon takes 29 days turning around earth, always showing the same face. Since it is only illuminated by the sun, its illuminated shape changes as it is almost not visible when situated between Earth and sun (new Moon) and at opposite, at full Moon, the earth is situated between Moon and Sun, thus we can see it fully illuminated and at horizon when the sun sets or rises.

Here just before sunrise, when the sky becomes pink at horizon, before the Moon sets.
Colours are real.
