The village has been inhabited since ancient times, as evidenced by the prehistoric remains found in his famous cave and its surroundings, including property in Leduc, the edge of the Amel Francotte bridge between the viaduct and the road iron.

Many historians see Sougnι in the capital of Segnes Sθgniens or under-Gallic tribe mentioned by Julius Caesar during his conquest of Gaul about the year 52 BC.

In the Middle Ages from the eleventh century, the lord of Remouchamps is dedicated to the Lordship of Aywaille, which depends Remouchamps. Cons certain privileges, it brings order and makes justice in the name of the lord of Aywaille. He lives Montjardin Castle, standing on a bedrock above the waves of the Amel, close to the heart of the village Remouchamps.

Bourgade peaceful Remouchamps through the ages unnoticed except at the end of the Ancien Regime. Indeed, in 1794, is on its heights on the Gattes Heid, takes place the famous battle of Sprimont who sees the French armies definitively reject the Austrians on the Rhine. One of the difficulties of Liθge-Bastogne-Liege, the coast of La Redoute, evokes the memory of one of the places in this battle.

The villages of Remouchamps Nonceveux, Sedoz Quarreux and are attached to the municipality while Aywaille Sougnι and Sur la Heid depend Sprimont. It was not until 1836 to see them meet in the Aywaille.

Whoever crossing Remouchamps, should visit the famous cave. Called "The Wonder of Wonders, it is fitted and open to the public since 1829. The cave is formed primarily by the superposition of two tunnels that grow about 2 800 meters. The underground waterway is on the Rubicon.
