My bicycle trip (36 km) to the farm for children with different animals
Also, a misty moment, next pictures become better the sun came through the clouds

Fourth picture about the same subject but other side, the barn of the old farm.

ASSEBROEK, BRUGES

From 1569 onwards, a walled castle with front gate, stone bridge over the wall and the typical pigeon tower - a clear sign of the high status of the inhabitants. On the domain there is a courtyard with a farm, orchard and herb garden.

In the 18th century the farm fell into disrepair. Among other things, it housed a gin distillery. At the beginning of the 19th century, there are only the buildings that are still there today. It is also during this period, namely in 1828, that the farm is given the name De Zeven Torrekens.

In 1957 the part is parcelled out. Only in 1972 did the city buy the remaining part of 3 hectares, including the buildings and the pigeon tower. A renovation of the farm follows, for which the architect Renι Platteeuw from Bruges is engaged, who is also building a 19th-century barn that came from the Groot ter Doest farm in Dudzele.
