Photographer's Note
"Het kleinste museum ter wereld weliswaar met de langste naam"
translates as
"The world's smallest museum albeit the one with the longest name"
is this quirky folly,
a belvedere (but to what?),
a pavillion of sorts,
white on top of an artificial hill
in Zorgvliet Park
in Hoboken
in Antwerp.
---
THIS LITTLE CONSTRUCTION is a folly on an artificial hilltop in Hoboken, a village just south of Antwerp that now has become integrated as one of the city districts.
HOBOKEN is not known for being beautiful. For most people the first associations would be industrial pollution, I guess. Then there are the Japanese visitors who visit Hoboken to trace the roots of "A Dog of Flanders", a 19th century novel that is set here and would have been completely forgotten by us locals, if it weren't for the Japanese visitors wondering about and asking directions to the statue of Nelle and Patrache.
Still, going on one of those corona walkabout, we discovered Hoboken does have its beauty spots, such as this one, which is part of the Park Sorghvliedt. Quite beautiful!

As for this being "the world's smallest museum albeit with the one with the longest name"...
Apparantly this quirky belvederegot this name from the poet Maud Verhauwaert in January 2020. She wanted this to be a place where she and other artists could work and meet. I have got no idea where the museum part comes in or what would be on show inside, as it seems to be locked, close like a shrine.
Strange days, indeed.
Most peculiar!

Hello Benny,
I only knew of Hoboken, New Jersey, where (as I just found out) Frank Sinatra was born. Probably Hoboken, Belgium existed much earlier. The building is nice and looks from below as it could have been a small mosque. But the trees are even nicer, and the contrasting blue sky is the best of all. There's not much of that kind in Sweden at this time of the year. Good exposure and sharpness also makes the photo nice.
Regards,
Gert

Hello Benny, this is probably the first shot of this building on TE; your notes make interesting reading.
A fantastic blue sky!
I like the viewpoint looking up through the bare trees. I guess that in the summer the building is hidden by the trees' foliage.
Kind regards, Jean.
P.S. I had to look up the word belvedere, as I was unsure of its meaning, a new word for my vocabulary.

Goedenavond Benny,
Er ontbreekt a behoorlijk pak in mijn cultuur, want dit s de eerste maal dat ik hier van hoor.
Maar mooi uit een lage positie genomen.
En zeker omringd door al de bomen.
Goed foto werk, bedankt.
Groeten uit Oost Vlaanderen,
John

Hello Benny,
A good upward pov to the crest of the wooded hill with the mini museum providing a fine focal point. Good density levels and punchy light contrasts too with excellent colour and saturation. Tfs!

Salut Benny,
Un bon angle pour mettre en valeur ce lieu et ce belvιdθre, superbe lumiθre et fond de ciel bleu pour valoriser l'ensemble, bon effet avec ces silhouettes d'arbres en forme de pyramide.

Hi Benny
A fascinating pre narrative supported by a stunning capture of this eye-popping small museum building, taken from an excellent point of view and subtle winter light. It just invites you in, great in rich colours and superbly framed by pretty skeletal trees.....
Best regards
