Photographer's Note
Old boxes made of ceramics in a house in the "Waldviertel" area. Waldviertel means "wood quarter" and is the north-western part of Lower Austria.
The area always used to be rather poor and structurally weak because of the harsh climate and also the vicinity to the "Iron Curtain".
Boxes like thes were used everywhere in Austria, it seems, cause we also have some at home. Nowadays similar boxes are made of plastic or metal.
In this house, inhabited by two elderly sisters, they are still used to bring order into the kitchen.
Upper row:
beans, semoline, rice, sugar, coffee, bread crumbs
Middle row:
sweet pepper, caraway, pepper, spice, cinnamon, cloves
Lower row:
oil and vinegar
There are also a couple of other things, like a mortar, vanilla sugar, plying, cut-out recipes from the newspaper, scissors, ...

Hi Gisi,
Very nice domestic scene, and to my eyes, these containers are most unusual and very charming. The whole shot has an aged feel to it, both the containers and the wallpaper look like something from another time, and then the material hanging from the shelves is another antique touch. Well seen, thanks for sharing.

Hello Gisi. Beans, grits, rice, etc. What a orignelles photo. Yes, so it looked like in the good old days. Today everything looks modern and futuristic. But it is good to remember the old days and to see such exhibits.

Hello Gisi,
You're capturing well this scene in kitchen by a good comosition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the ceramic boxes distinguished by the name for cooking. It looks like simple and functional. And, The design of a wall also harmonizes with this box well.
